The Swiss Laboratory for Doping Analyses (LAD)
The Swiss Laboratory for Doping Analyses (LAD) constitues an integral part of the University Center of Legal Medicine, West Switzerland (CURML). The CURML, founded in October 2007 and headed by Professor Patrice Mangin, incorporates the Departments of Legal Medicine of the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne. The latter Department is itself integrated to the Department of Community Medicine and Public Health (DUMSC) at the Hospices-CHUV.
The creation of LAD in Lausanne dates back to the early 1990s. At that time, the laboratory was composed of six members only. Today, more than 25 dedicated individuals (staff) take part in LAD’s activities. This strong expansion is explained by the various new needs that have appeared over the last years as a result of the evolving objectives and missions of the laboratory.
